TSM Quick Take
Right stay for you?
This property is ideal for families and groups seeking a central Gatlinburg base with resort-style amenities and convenient kitchen/laundry options. Its location offers easy access to downtown attractions and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, along with standout amenities like indoor and outdoor pools and a splash area. However, it may not suit budget travelers due to its upper-midscale pricing and resort fees, and those looking for a truly quiet retreat might find the urban setting less appealing.

About Holiday Inn Club Vacations Smoky Mountain Resort, an IHG Hotel
We stayed here last January and honestly, it's a solid choice if you want villa space without paying cabin prices. The one-bedroom units have full kitchens, washer/dryer, and enough room to actually spread out — way better than cramming into a hotel room when you're staying more than two nights. Just heads up, they're doing major renovations through May 2026, so expect some noise and construction chaos in the lobby area.
The location is perfect though. You're literally 1,800 feet from downtown Gatlinburg, which means you can walk to the strip if you want, but you're far enough out to avoid the traffic nightmare. There's a free shuttle stop right outside that'll take you downtown or to Pigeon Forge, which saves you from dealing with parking fees.
Here's the annoying part nobody warns you about — even if you book online for just a regular stay, you still have to sit through their timeshare sales pitch to get your parking pass. Yes, really. We thought it was optional but nope, they make you do it even for short stays. The sales guy was pushy but we just kept saying no and got out in about 45 minutes.
The pools are actually pretty great for families. There's this Splash Hollow thing that keeps kids busy for hours, plus indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs. Fair warning though — the outdoor hot tub was broken when we visited last summer, and from what I heard it's still having issues.
Oh and the full kitchens are a game-changer if you're trying to save money. We hit the grocery store on arrival and cooked breakfast every morning, which probably saved us $200 over the week. The villa felt more like staying at a friend's condo than a typical hotel experience.
