About Sugarlands Distilling Company
We've been to Sugarlands more times than I can count, and it's honestly the one distillery in Gatlinburg that feels like they're actually making quality spirits instead of just cashing in on the moonshine tourism thing. Their new Broken Antler whiskey line launched this year with flavors like Cold Brew Coffee and Hot Honey, and it's way better than the gimmicky stuff you'll find at some other places on the strip.
The hour-long tours are solid if you actually want to learn something about distilling — not just pose for Instagram photos. They'll walk you through the whole process and the guides know their stuff. Fair warning though: tours max out at 6 people and they book up fast during peak season.
What really sets this place apart is the back porch cocktail bar. Live music Friday and Saturday nights from 7:30 to 9:30, no cover charge, and the bartenders actually know how to make a proper cocktail with their spirits instead of just pouring shots.
Oh and if you're into the Moonshiners TV show, Mark Rogers does meet-and-greets here monthly on select Fridays. No tickets needed — just show up and get in line.
Skip the weekend afternoons if you can help it. The 10am opening is your best bet for smaller crowds, or circle back after 8pm when the tour groups have cleared out. They're open until 10:30 every night, which gives you flexibility most other distilleries don't.
