Chimney Tops Overlook

Perched along Highway 441 in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Chimney Tops Overlook offers one of the most dramatic mountain views near Gatlinburg. This popular scenic spot gives visitors a perfect vantage point to photograph the distinctive twin pinnacles of the Chimney Tops formation, which rise sharply against the backdrop of rolling mountain ridges.

The overlook itself features a paved parking area and viewing platform, making it accessible for most visitors. On clear days, you can see for miles across the surrounding peaks, with particularly vibrant displays during fall foliage season and spring wildflower blooms. Early morning visits often reward photographers with misty mountain scenes, while sunset casts beautiful golden light across the valley.

No entrance fee is required beyond the standard Great Smoky Mountains National Park pass. The overlook is open 24/7, weather permitting, though Highway 441 may close during winter storms or icy conditions. The parking area has room for about 30 vehicles, and there are no restroom facilities at this stop.
