Smoky Mountain Brewery in Gatlinburg

Smoky Mountain Brewery sits right on the Parkway, but it feels nothing like the tourist traps surrounding it. We've grabbed beers here after hiking days when we needed something real — their handcrafted microbrews and that ski lodge vibe hit different than the chain spots. The enclosed deck overlooking Calhoun's Village is great for watching the Gatlinburg chaos while staying above it.

Their pizza of the month thing keeps us coming back. February's meatball pizza with fresh ricotta and fire-roasted tomatoes was incredible, and the wings are consistently good as a starter. The kitchen stays open until midnight on weekends, which saves you when everywhere else shuts down at 10.

Live music happens nightly around 9pm, but honestly, the trivia nights on Mondays and Tuesdays are more fun if you're not into crowds. Karaoke starts after trivia ends, so you get this weird progression from competitive to ridiculous as the night goes on.

Fair warning: Friday and Saturday evenings get packed, especially when there's live music. Service slows down and you'll wait for deck seating. We've learned to either go weekday afternoons or commit to the chaos and just enjoy it.

The parking situation is actually decent — they validate in the garage, which is rare on the Parkway. Just make sure your server stamps your ticket right away because they're strict about it.
