TSM Quick Take

Worth it for you?

SkyLand Ranch is a good fit for families with kids or teens, multi-generational groups, and adults looking for a half-day of mountain views, animal encounters, and a few signature rides like the Wild Stallion Mountain Coaster and WagonWheeler Swing Tower. The chairlift ride, miniature farm animals, and live entertainment add variety, and the location across from Tanger Outlets makes it easy to pair with shopping or dining nearby. Most visitors spend 2–4 hours enjoying the mix of gentle and thrill attractions, with options for both scenic relaxation and more active fun. The main drawback is that admission and ride add-ons can add up, especially for larger groups, and most activities are outdoors, so weather can impact your visit. Those seeking a full-day theme park experience or a guaranteed rainy-day option may want to look elsewhere.

Quick decision

Should You Go?

Worth it for families?

yes – Miniature animals, play areas, and a mix of gentle and thrill rides make it a strong pick for families with kids or teens.

Worth it for adults only?

yes – Scenic views, live entertainment, and the mountain coaster appeal to adults, especially as a half-day outing or paired with shopping.

Worth it on a rainy day?

no – Most attractions are outdoors and rides may close for weather; not ideal as a rainy-day backup.

Best time of day?

First hour of opening for lighter crowds, or after dark for night coaster rides and city lights.

How long does it take?

2–4 hours for most visitors, depending on pace and interest in shows or animal areas.

Biggest downside?

About SkyLand Ranch

We discovered SkyLand Ranch during a quieter week in Sevierville, and it's honestly a nice break from the Dollywood crowds. The Wild Stallion mountain coaster is legitimately the longest in the Southeast at 1.25 miles, and you control your own speed which makes it fun for both thrill-seekers and nervous riders. Fair warning though — the place took a hit from a fire in February 2026 that destroyed two barns, so there's some obvious damage in the upper areas and the chairlift isn't running right now.

The new WagonWheeler swing tower is pretty impressive if you're not afraid of heights. It's supposedly Tennessee's tallest, and the views of the Smokies are worth the ride. They also added this observation tower called Legacy Lookout recently.

What we love about this place is how it mixes rides with just hanging out — there are miniature animals the kids can visit, and they usually have live music going. Since the fire though, you'll need to walk up to some areas instead of taking the scenic chairlift, which honestly is a bit of a hike. The mountain coaster runs until 11pm while everything else closes at 9, so plan accordingly.

Budget around $50-60 per person if you want the full experience. The coaster alone is $15-20 per ride, and their food trucks and cafes aren't cheap. Oh and parking at the base is free, which is nice since you're already spending enough on everything else.
